There’s more
to the journey.

I’m Nickynicolaus. Offchunk is my Minecraft mod workshop — a place for ideas that make the world feel a little more alive.

Read the story
An illustrated Minecraft island with a fuel stop, a road under construction, a car and speakers.
A small illustration of the world these ideas could build.
01 A thought to follow

What happens
along the way?

A car gives you a reason to travel. But a journey is more than getting from one place to another.

There’s the stop for fuel. The road you build over a hill. The workshop waiting at the other end. A song playing while your friends catch up.

Those small connections are what I want to explore with Offchunk. Things to build, things to use, and reasons to spend a little longer in the world you’ve made.

02 Ideas become systems

Give the world
something to do.

A fuel stop feels different when it has a purpose. With Pumps & Pistons, oil becomes fuel and a pump becomes part of a working system. There’s a reason to stop, refill and head out again.

That thought reaches beyond the pump. Roadworks is being developed around building roads through the terrain, with machines doing the work. Powerworks brings the idea into a workshop, connecting generation, storage and the machines that use the power.

Each project follows its own idea. Together, they point towards the same kind of world: one where the things you build have a job to do.

03 Room for the little things

Then someone
turns up the radio.

Machines make a world work. Music gives a moment its mood.

Autoradio is that part of Offchunk. Music in the car, a portable speaker, a track shared with the people around you. A drive can have a soundtrack. A gathering can have its own atmosphere.

I want to leave room for those details, too. The practical systems and the small pleasures belong in the same world.

04 Other people’s work matters

A workshop
with open doors.

Some mods become favourites you want other people to experience, too. Automobility, Momentum and RIAutomobility are those mods for me. I made these unofficial ports because I love them and wanted players on newer Minecraft versions to discover them as well.

That is another part of Offchunk’s story, alongside my original projects. These mods have their own authors and their own stories: Automobility was created by FoundationGames, and RIAutomobility by SShakusora. Their names and the original licensing terms stay with the work.

The music has its makers, too. Autoradio includes recordings by Argules, Rowen Rook and other credited artists. The recordings keep their own licensing terms; you can find the credits on Autoradio’s project page .

05 Still being written

One mod.
Then the next idea.

This is an independent workshop, and the story is still taking shape. Some projects are ready to play. Roadworks and Powerworks are still in development. Their pages show where things stand.

I share releases and progress here as the work moves forward. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think, about the original mods and the ports alike.

Tell me what you enjoy, what gets in the way and what you’d like to see next. Your feedback, useful bug reports and the things you build help shape the next chapter.

I’m Nickynicolaus. This is Offchunk.
Thanks for coming along.

What are you building?

Have an idea, a question or something you want to share? I’d like to hear it.
